Konstantin Khabensky directed a film about the only successful revolt in a concentration camp during the great Patriotic war, but still he played. Lydia Maslov shares his impressions from this benefit.
The uprising in the death camp Sobibor, 14 October 1943, ended in a mass escape, is considered to be undeservedly forgotten anti-fascist fight. However, there is enough evidence to make a picture of events from the Anglo-Yugoslav film “Escape from Sobibor” 1987, with Rutger Hauer and ending with the book of Ilya Vasiliev, “Alexander Pechersky: Breakthrough to immortality”, in explanation -see our new movie.
After studying different sources, you can imagine what was a fantastically bold, but not daunting uprising plan, written by Lieutenant Alexander Pechersky, and harder to understand the confusing dramatic structure of the film “Sobibor” in the credits Malyukov and Director Konstantin Khabensky, turned from actor to Director is already in the process of filming. When viewing the final product, it appears that the final version of the screenplay was not chosen. Probably, in a sense, the creators of “Sobibor” was in the same situation, and that the prisoners, having learned that the camp was soon liquidated, and decided: better to die than to gas chambers. In any case, Konstantin Khabensky, who took on himself a dual responsibility, shows on the screen the desired location of the spirit.
Plan sobiborski rebellion was based on the cunning and fearlessness of the Russian (apparently, it is essentially inherent in Pechersk), and German punctuality. In the documentary Claude lanzman “Sobibor, October 14, 1943, 16 hours”, one of the participants of the uprising, Yehuda Lerner, says that if punctual German officers did not comply with the minute-by-minute timing, deftly imposed on them by prisoners the conspirators. The authors of the film “Sobibor” also trying to see if not hours, even days. It is known that the preparation for the uprising has taken three days, but “twelfth day”, and there to the ” Day last “close.
Through this mysterious marking stick snatches plot threads and characters without a specific task: the actress Mikhalina vil’shans’ka appears at the beginning of the film with a yellow star on the sleeve and a promising face that can be called resistance bitch. Usually girls with such persons as should give the Nazis a light, and “Sobibor” waiting for something like this – especially that ol’shanskaya depicted on the movie poster along with other key characters. But after a few minutes she got herself in the gas chamber, where time only to throw a farewell glance to the head of Sobibor (Christopher Lambert) watching the execution in the window. The SCRAG, but as a tragic figure, not alien to human. In one episode, Lambert is actually hysterical quotes Ralph finnes in “Schindler’s List,” reflecting the contradictory attitude of true Aryans to the Jews, to which the touch beneath one’s dignity, and to resist their charms impossible. For charm in “Sobibor” meets Maria Kozhevnikova with red hair. Thanks to her, the authors get to the decorate film erotic scene – not necessarily in severe male stories where a strong hero.
Unfortunately, the authors did not manage to avoid the sentimental symbolism that no emotion strikes. For example, when the camera shoots up, the following ominous smoke from the dark pipe, and at the same time amplified music is a very expressive shot. Do not even want to complain about that, according to many reports, no chimney of the crematorium at Sobibor was not there at first, corpses were simply buried, and then burned at the stake. On the one hand, it is clear the desire of the filmmakers to tell the caller admiration history in the high key, but on the other – one of the kind of breakthrough in immortality still deserves more than deadly hackneyed visual metaphors and stilted theatrical gestures, which saves his life people just do not have time.
