James Van takes on a remake of the cult horror of 1990 "Arachnophobia" (or "Fear of Spiders"), reports Empire.

Recall, the director of the original was Frank Marshall (who in our days is primarily engaged in producing, in particular, the franchise "The World of the Jurassic Period"). It was about a South American spider-killer who, traveling in a coffin, gets to a small town north of the border, multiplies and begins to attack the inhabitants.

In the original, Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, the star of "Warlock" Julian Sands, as well as 374 spiders originally from New Zealand were shot.

In the remake, most likely, the spiders will be depicted using computer graphics, which will simplify the production, and exclude the protests of the animal protection organization PETA.

The company is engaged in production of Atomic Monster and Amblin. The remake does not yet have a script, so that an active search for an intelligent writer is currently under way.

The release date is not yet called.
