Timur Bekmambetov’s film company Bazelevs and studio “The History of the Future” launched the 1968.DIGITAL project – the first documentary series in a vertical format. The series starts on April 23 in two languages ​​- English and Russian.

In total, the creators have planned 40 episodes designed to demonstrate how in 1968 culture and society changed, why the sexual revolution began, how the struggle for human rights and pacifism became mainstream and how the world began to acquire modern outlines. Earlier, the “History of the Future” studio launched the interactive “Project 1917”, telling about this year in the domestic history with the help of social networks and modern technologies, and “The History Card”, a documentary game about the main events of the 20th century in Russia.

In the series, historical events will be shown through the smartphone screen, which could be the main characters. For example, Gabriel Garcia Marquez writes his novel in notes on the phone, the Beatles group has a chat in WhatsApp, Andy Warhol hangs photos from his exhibitions in Instagram, and Mick Jagger lays out future hits in SoundCloud.

Each series tells about one of the key characters or events. In the first series, entitled “Catwoman versus Lady Bird”, the popular American singer, Erta Kitt, dares to criticize the US president and his wife, for which he is being persecuted.
